The Pike at Rainbow Harbor

Personally, I love The Pike at Rainbow Harbor. It’s located in the beautiful Downtown Long Beach right along the water. There is a wide variety of things to do at The Pike. For starters, you can simply walk around the harbor, take a tour of the Queen Mary ship, or look at some sharks at the Aquarium of the Pacific.

However, the real fun is at night. The Pike is all about nightlife.


The Pike is known for having a huge Ferris wheel and Carousel in front of it. If you get on the Ferris wheel at night, you can see the entire Pike beautifully lit. It’s a great view.

I really like GameWorks at The Pike. It’s like a more mature version of Chuck E. Cheese. You can bowl at their bowling alley, play some arcade games, and eat some great food all while sipping on a beer. I really like going there for cosmic bowling, which is bowling in the dark with nothing but neon lights and "glow-in-the-dark" objects everywhere. It’s really cool. GameWorks is definitely a cool spot to check out.

Other than GameWorks, there’s a lot of other chill places at The Pike. For dining, you can check out Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, and Boston’s The Gourmet Pizza. These places have really good food. I definitely recommend them.

For the drinkers over 21-years-old, Auld Dubliner Irish Pub is a very popular place to go. From what I’ve heard, it has a great selection of Whiskey imported from Dublin, Ireland. The staff is great and really friendly. There’s live Irish music on Mondays. It’s very similar to an actual Irish pub.

Also, for the drinkers over 21, Mai Tai Bar is a very upscale bar to check out at The Pike. It has a tropical, Hawaiian theme to it. From what I’ve heard, it’s a cool place to be on a Saturday night. It’s a lounge type of bar. They have a wide variety of drinks, such as Cocktails, Martinis, and, of course, Mai Tais. There is usually live island music from local bands, or else a DJ playing. All the waitresses are dressed in Hawaiian clothes. It has a great atmosphere as well as a great view of the water. It’s a great place. However, there’s also a dress code to get in. If you’re 21 or over, go check it out. If you’re not 21, don’t expect to get in.

Also, for the clubbers, there is a nightclub at The Pike called V20. It’s kind of small, but it’s okay. It has a really nice outdoor deck with a lot of places to sit and meet someone new. The DJs are always good. The club is 18 and over. For all of you CSUF students, Thursdays are College Nights. That means all college students with college IDs get in free until 10:30. After 10:30, it’s $5. Check it out! I recommend!

Overall, The Pike at Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach is a very awesome place. Go check it out. Take the 710 Freeway Southbound to Long Beach and exit Shoreline Dr.
